Briony O’Callaghan
an award-winning theatre-maker, performer and director. She trained at Ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris. As a performer, maker and deviser her work has been supported by Arts Council England; Arts Council Norway; Creative Scotland; The Grotowski Institute; The Pleasance; Assembly Roxy; HOME Manchester; Grusomhetens Teater, Oslo; Sychrono Teatro, Athens; Topi Dalmata, Italy; Historic Royal Palaces; Bloomsbury Festival; Tramshed; RADA, RCSSD and Rose Bruford, amongst others. She is an associate artist with Flabbergast, SALTYDOLLS and David Glass Ensemble, as well as artistic director of Created a Monster. In the past year, she has been playing Lady Macbeth in Flabbergast’s tour of Macbeth; performing in The Brides (Jacksons Lane and Teatro Dei Rinnovatti, Siena) for London International Mime Festival with David Glass Ensemble; performing/co-devising ‘Sex Lives of Puppets’ with Blind Summit (Southwark Playhouse, 2024) and directing shows for HistoryRiot at The Tower of London, amongst many other projects.
As a director and movement director her work has been nominated twice for the LET Award and has won: an Offie Award for Best Show (2021); The Stage Debut Award for best performer (2022); and The Pleasance Generate Fund (2023). She regularly directs and teaches at UK drama schools.
