Led by Henry Maynard, Artistic Director of Flabbergast Theatre, this is a masterclass workshop for those interested in increasing their mastery of Bunraku Puppetry used widely as the basis of puppetry technique in the industry.

Henry was trained during his work with Blind Summit and Handspring. He has trained a large number of some of the most successful and prolific Puppeteers working today including in shows such as War Horse, Life of Pi, Circus 1903, and many more.

His own credits in puppetry are extensive and he has worked with The National Theatre, The Globe, National Theatre Scotland, and several West End productions.

The workshop will focus on the practical techniques involved in Bunraku Puppetry specifically improvisation as a team and the real time embodiment of life.

these skills are transferable to animals such as those found in War Horse and Life of Pi.

we will explore improvisation techniques that will assist in both audition and professional settings
